I first started in the anti corrosion industry in January 1989 when I started applying specialist coatings in pipes, spools and butterfly valves.This involved me learning a wide range of application methods including brush, airless spraying and pipe spraying. I also learned all about blasting and moved on to inspection.


My career has taken me all over the world, some places good – Cali and Bogata (Columbia) and Singapore (and yes I did visit the famous Raffles Hotel) and some not so good but I had best keep them to myself to avoid giving offence! I have worked in more or less most of Europe with very differing experiences.
As the years have passed, my experience in the industry both in-house and on site means I have come across lots of different coating systems. Some of them are good in their own applications but some are not so good, no matter what their sales literature says.


That brings me to where I am today....King Tanktechnic.


A father and son family business run by Ray and Steve King, (I think Steve must get his looks from his Mother!) with probably the best double skin lining system I have come across in the last twenty years and I have seen more than a few.


The company setup is good and I’m working with a smashing set of lads. That is unusual, as I’m from Leeds and they’re from Manchester, so yes I do get some stick but it’s all good banter (especially after we knocked United out of the FA cup last year ha ha)! Who would have thought Leeds and Manchester lads getting on together... but there again who would have foreseen Schmeichel and Bruce in a Leeds shirt!!!?


Kingtank is a great place to work and I feel proud to be part of an established team.
