Rick Lovery joins King Tanktechnic

Profile

The man at the hub of the action here at Kingtank in Manchester is our Depot Manager Rick Lovethe civil engineering and heavy haulage industry.

My lifelong interest in exercise and fitness and the resulting image (I am a teddy bear really!) led me into an interesting sideline which is that I am a licensed door supervisor (Don’t ever use the “B” word!) I still occasionally help out at busy city centre venues but ‘nowadays it is just to keep my hand in.

From the truck and plant machinery driving, I was lured back into engineering and worked as a foreman for an engineering company in Manchester where I became conversant with fabrication welding etc.

One day, as I was driving home, I spotted a King Tanktechnic articulated vacuum tanker on the motorway near my home in Stockport.

It is a pretty impressive looking vehicle and it prompted me to ring King Tank and enquire about the company. I was lucky enough to ring at a time when my predecessor in the position I now hold, Joe Colebourne was coming up to retirement and I was offered the chance to work with Joe and learn the job. I must have done something right as here I am!

A lot of what I have learnt in previous jobs has been very useful to me at Kingtank but I learn more and more about the petroleum industry as time passes and different contracts come up.

For instance, If you had told me twelve months ago that I would be able to discuss the benefits of the ADISA tank lining system relative to the storage of Ethanol based fuels and why fuel storage tanks must be periodically cleaned and inspected I wouldn’t have believed you.

I am mostly in our depot in Droylsden so I look forward to helping you with any queries when you ring, and if I can’t help, then I will definitely know someone here who can.
