The King Tanktechnic Tank Service Unit (TSU)

Engineering technology for tanks & their environment

King Tanktechnic Ltd was founded by Ray and Steve King in 1991 when they began to design and build their first Tank Service Unit (TSU).

They worked together in small premises in Albion Street Failsworth Manchester, taking twelve months to build the TSU on a new Scania chassis/cab and develop and gain approvals to undertake the proposed work.

That Scania TSU is still on the KTL fleet to this day and has been recently refurbished to restore it to its position as "Pride of the Fleet" alongside the other TSU's now on the fleet, which, although much younger and bigger will never replace the first "Hand Built" TSU in the affections of Ray & Steve King.

Througout the next few years of very hard work, Ray and Steve built the reputation of KTL on a firm basis by always delivering what they promised in a professional and above all, safe manner.

Inevitably, because of the demand for their specialist knowledge in an ever expanding field of expertise, they employed and trained more and more staff until in 2001, Kingtank had grown too big for its Albion Street premises. They searched the locality and eventually found a factory in Droylsden, which has previously been the Univar chemical works.

Over the next twelve months, whilst still preserving the standard of service expected by their ever-increasing client base, they invested even more time, effort and hard earned cash into the infrastructure of the Depot. Secure and undercover parking for the TSU fleet, welding and fabrication facilities and a proper wast disposal chain.

We are able to provide certification of compliance / testing for all equipment to any client or official body requiring it and all Kingtank site staff and management are trained in site safety.

KTL have an ongoing Safety Training Programme for all staff.

All Tank Maintenance Technicians are trained in every aspect of the job they are required to do. Scanned copies of all certificates of training, and equipment compliance documentation, are normally carried by contract supervisors on their KTL Laptop Computers, which also have email contact with the Kingtank depot.

Kingtank is now a name well known in the industry and it is very rare that we contact a petroleum officer anywhere in the UK who is not aware of our reputation for professionalism and adherence to safe working methods.
